Before knowing the delivery due date it is good to know in which week your pregnancy is on right now. Baby growth develops each week and the mother also undergoes physical and mental changes in her body. By knowing the week the mother can prepare herself to face the challenges in the upcoming weeks.

LMP: Last Mensuration Period. The last mensuration period date is counted as the first day of the pregnancy. Generally, pregnancy is counted for 280 days that is 40 weeks. From the LMP add the weeks and you can calculate the current week you are travelling with your pregnancy.

For example, the LMP is May 3rd, 2022, and today’s[3-6-22]  gestation period is 4 weeks 3 days.

EDD is the Estimated Due Date. EDD is the expected date or estimated delivery date of the pregnant woman. EDD is calculated on different methods. How to find the due date using LMP?

LMP is the last mensuration period by knowing the last mensuration date one can find the delivery due date. Your last mensuration date is the first day of your pregnancy date and by adding 280 days, you can get the delivery due date. Approximately the childbirth happens from 38 to 40 weeks so from the delivery date one can expect the delivery to happen either 10 days before or 10 days after the due date. And this completely differs for every woman, calculating the due date is just a formula but the actual birth date depends upon the baby's growth condition and the mother’s health condition. And if the mother is with one or more babies she can expect her delivery by 34 to 38 weeks also.

How to find the due date using the conception date?

The date of conception is the date on which you would have been conceived and this would be around the time of the ovulation period. The ovulation period is where the egg and sperm meet each other and fertilize. For the average mensuration cycle of 28 days, the ovulation period starts from the 14th day of the last mensuration period. There is a high chance of pregnancy if you had unprotected sexual contact during the ovulation period. By knowing the ovulation date and adding 266 days, you can get the delivery due date.

Finding the due date using ultrasound

The final method of finding the estimated delivery date is using the ultrasound scan. When the woman is not sure about the last mensuration date and the date of conception and if she had irregular cycles then finding the delivery date using the ultrasound scan is the best. In the ultrasound scan the fetus's height, weight, and growth are monitored and the date of conception and date of delivery is determined.

Does the delivery due to date change?

Yes, there is a chance of a change in the delivery date. As I mentioned before the expected date is only given in the initial stage of pregnancy as the months go by based on the baby's growth, position, and complications the delivery date varies it may be either before or after. Your doctor will examine and determine the time of delivery in the final trimester once again.

An easy method to calculate the delivery date

Here is an easy simple method to estimate your delivery date in just three steps.

Step:1 Find your last mensuration date

Step: 2 Count back three months back from the LMP

Step: 3 Add one year and seven days to that date

And now you get the EDD.

For example, your LMP is September 9, 2010. Three months back is June 9, 2010, now add one year and 7 days the final date is June 16, 2011.

This is how delivery dates can be determined easily. Hope this article helps in finding more about the pregnancy calculator. Don’t forget to consult your gynaecologist to get your pregnancy checkups done.
