Dos during pregnancy

Here are some of the recommendations for a healthy pregnancy.

Do intake healthy diet

Eating at the time of pregnancy doesn’t mean to eat more hence you are of two. Having a proper healthy diet helps to have a healthy baby. Intake a balanced diet, split your meals and eat in small proportions frequently. Take protein, fibre, iron-rich foods. Foods with iron prevent you from the risk of anaemia. Folic acid plays a vital role during pregnancy, it helps in the spine and the neural growth of the baby. Spinach, mushroom, broccoli, orange, avocado, soya, beans are some of the folic acid-rich foods.

Intake of vitamin D helps to improve immunity and prevents you from disease attacks. It also helps in the growth of bones for the baby. Intake fresh fruit, vegetables, and seafood at the time of pregnancy. Maintaining the right diet plan is more important, improper diet may lead to gestational diabetes, overweight, blood pressure, high sugar levels so have a proper pregnancy diet to have a healthy baby. When you are facing hard to prepare your pregnancy diet chart get a dietician's consultation and he will help you to plan for a healthy food chart for all three trimesters.

Do drink more water

At the time of pregnancy, it is important to have you hydrated always. Drinking water or you can even replace water with sugar-less fresh juices. Drinking more water helps you to stay away from constipation which is the most common problem during pregnancy. Drinking water helps to reduce the risk of premature birth, it prevents you from skin problems. It helps to prevent urinary infections.

One has to drink at least 8 to 12 glasses of water every day during pregnancy.

Do yoga & physical exercises

Being physically active during pregnancy helps you to keep away from stress, anxiety, and depression. Doing yoga and pelvic floor exercises helps your backbone, and pelvic region to be more flexible during labour. It also eases your labour. Daily walking for 30 – 45 minutes relieves your back pain, prevents you from obesity and it also helps to maintain your blood sugar levels.

Do take your supplements

During pregnancy, doctors subscribe to vitamin, calcium, and folic acid supplements. These supplements nourish your baby's growth so do compulsory intake of the supplements regularly as per the doctor's advice.

Do sleep in the right position

A pregnant woman cannot sleep like a normal woman. She would feel uncomfortable especially at night because of body weight, the baby’s kicks will be harder and more frequent during the nighttime. While lying for sleep one cannot turn just like that to another side this may harm your baby's neck by surrounding the umbilical cord. So whenever you feel to turn to another side just raise, sit and then sleep on the other side.

Sleeping on the left-hand side is preferable. While sleeping on the left side the baby gets enough oxygen and moves freely.

Do monitor baby movements

After seven months of pregnancy, the mother can feel the baby's movements easily. One has to monitor the timings of the baby's movements. If there is no baby movement for a long time have to consult the doctor immediately. In such cases when there is no movement for a long time have either a cold drink or a hot drink this may help for baby movement. It is always better to have a doctor's visit without delay.

Do have regular checkups

Monthly checkups are a must. During the monthly checkup check for the haemoglobin levels, blood sugar levels, baby heart rate, blood pressure. Ask the doctor about the baby's growth. Whenever necessary do ultrasound scans to check for the baby's health condition.

These are some of the tips and following these will help you to have a healthy baby. Get an obstetrician & gynaecologist consultation from Drugcarts
