What is a missed period?

Every month the woman attains her mensuration the general cycle of mensuration is once in 28 days and this cycle differs for each woman based on her body weight and daily habits. Missing a period is the most common symptom of pregnancy. After the sexual contact, if the woman is missing her period for more than 10 days that is she did not get her periods till 38 days then there is a chance of pregnancy and she must do her pregnancy test to confirm her pregnancy. But this completely varies for each woman, everyone does not have a 28days cycle so based on their mensuration cycle one can calculate the number of days of missing period. For some, it may take 38 to 45 days to confirm the pregnancy.

What happens in the 28 Days Mensuration Cycle?

As I said before 28 days mensuration cycle is the common cycle and it differs. If the woman has thyroid, pcod, or even low haemoglobin her mensuration cycle can be irregular in those cases it is hard to calculate the ovulation period or guess the next date of the periods.

Day 1: The inner tissue lining present in the uterus starts to break and leaves through the vagina. That is your period's start. It may take 4 to 8 days to get stopped.

Day 8: From the 8th day of your periods your uterus starts to prepare for the next cycle. It builds to nourish the fertilized egg. This is a routine cycle and this happens every month to hold your baby.

Day 14: And this is going to be an important phase called ovulation. One or two mature egg gets released from the ovary. From day 12 to day 14 if you have sexual contact with your partner, the sperm travels and meets the egg to get fertilized and this is where you have more chance of getting pregnant.

Day 15 to 24: The egg released from the ovary travels through the fallopian tube and reaches the uterus for implantation. The fertilized egg implants into the walls of the uterus and this are where your pregnancy starts.

Day 24: When the egg does not meet the sperm means the unfertilized egg stays in the uterus and signals the hormones to drop the support of pregnancy and from day 24 your uterus becomes ready to get your periods.

When your egg wins in the pregnancy the egg stays in the uterus and implants itself and starts to grow and this is why your periods get missed.

And remember not all missed periods are the symptoms of pregnancy. There are also many reasons for missing periods.
