After a long time, we are going to celebrate a festival of lights (Diwali) without any restrictions. All are excited to celebrate this Diwali, but one more thing is coming along with every Diwali : Pollution. During Diwali, the Government poses many rules and restrictions for all states for safety reasons. But many of them do not follow the rules properly, ending up with people who are affected by many health issues.  


Now and again, blasting of crackers likewise causes significant health risks especially for those experiencing asthma, ear, skin and heart issues. Now this blog, We are going to know about harmful health reasons to avoid firecrackers this Diwali

1. Respiratory Issues

                                

The smoke coming from crackers can affect the respiratory organs like lungs. By blasting the fireworks, the smoke can act as a trigger to an asthmatic patient. It leads to asthma attacks. This smoke from the crackers also leads to respiratory problems like coughing and wheezing. In a rare condition, chemical pneumonia is also generated because of the fumes from the firecrackers. 

2. Eye Problems

                             

The main reason to celebrate Diwali is to share the joy and sweets. Childrens and adults are excited to see the colourful lights from the fire crackers. It is very beautiful but also dangerous to the eyes. The SPM (Suspended Particulate Matter) can cause severe headaches, migraines, colour blindness and loss of focus, if it reaches the 100 PPM level. Many of them suffer from headaches, migraine attacks, cataract, and glaucoma. Doctors are advised to stay inside the home and see the firework lights from a distance. 

3. Skin Problems

                                  

Crackers are very beautiful while bursting, but making crackers is not like that. It is very dangerous, because they are made up of chemicals. The chemicals in the crackers are highly acidic and alkaline in their ph. It causes severe skin problems. Sodium in the crackers also reacts dangerously with air and can damage the skin. 

4. Gastric Problems


The chemicals present in firecrackers mostly stick on your hands while bursting crackers. If you cannot wash your hands properly, the chemical in your hands can directly enter your body with food. It leads to severe gastric problems like nausea, diarrhoea, dehydration, and allergic polyp in the intestinal. 

5. Cadmium Anemia and Kidney Damage


Cadmium present in the crackers is very dangerous for the blood cells. This cadmium chemical breaks down the good blood cells and it prevents formation of new blood cells. It reduces the intake of iron by the RBC, leading to anemia. If you intake cadmium accidentally, it can lead to kidney toxicity severely. This kidney damage cannot be irreversible. 

6. Effect of Lead and Magnesium


Lead in fireworks can cause severe nerve damage and also leads to the user prone to paralysis or even coma. And also, magnesium can lead to metal fume fever. Lead in the fireworks can cause severe nerve problems like peripheral neuropathy and can be caused by cancer treatment. 

7. Noise Pollution


Diwali, the sound festival can damage your ears. Normally human beings can hear 60 decibels. But, sound from the firecrackers beyond the 140 decibels. It may increase the risk of heart patients and kids. Newborns are having chances to lose their hearing sense. It also leads to increased pulse rate thus causing heart attack. Lack of sleep, due to noise pollution can cause the patients with blood pressure and diabetes. The loud sounds from crackers can damage the babies in their mother’s womb. Sudden bursting of crackers can cause hearing problems for kids. 

Make sure to stuff ears with cotton to avoid noise pollution. For a safe environment, go for silent fireworks to save the animals around. 


8. Heart Patients


                

Diwali is a festival of light. But now it has become a festival of sound/Noise. Sudden bursting of crackers can damage your heart. And also causes other cardio problems. Abrupt noise and smoke causes restlessness, high bp, disturbed sleep and also a heart attack. Doctors prefer heart patients to stay inside and spend some quality time with your loved ones. Avoid taking part in bursting crackers, dancing and some other activities. Stay away from Noise!! 

9. Pregnant Woman


Loud noise can cause major problems for both pregnant women and the baby in their womb and also infants. pregnant women can easily be affected by sudden loud noise thus causing many problems like hyperactivity of babies in wombs or it may lead to miscarriage. During Fireworks, keep your baby closer to you and make comfort to the baby during blasting the crackers.

Diwali festival is not just for blasting alone. It's for sharing joy and sweets to each other. Don’t spoil the mood of the festival by your health problems.
